Who Are The GassahGuys? A group dedicated to the promotion of “Ol’ Skool” racing with today’s nostalgia cars (pre-’74),and front engine dragsters.
In the late fifty’s early gassers abounded on the drag strip and streets of America. The class evolved from the daily driver that was modified with cams, carbs, etc. that burned gasoline only. It was the car you built with your son, daughter or neighborhood kid down the street; sometimes called “Jalopies” or “Hot Rods” by your dad, the cops or neighbors. They were simply called the rod, the coupe or roadster by the young men that drove ‘em. Every summer night in every town in the USA, at every drive-in restaurant or theater, you could see them. There were Model As, Deuce coupes, 40 Fords, 49-50 Olds, pre-war Chevys, Pontiacs, along with the Willys, Anglia and Henry J Group. |
